I love sharing recipes and hostess tips with my friends and family, almost as much as I love entertaining! So I'm excited tell you about our newest holiday gift basket. It's a curated selection of some of my favorite local flavors, perfect for throwing an elegantly delicious dinner party. Our Southern Entertaining Gift Basket has everything you need, starting with savory appetizers and ending on a sweet note, with two different flavors of our cookies. It’s the perfect holiday gift for anyone who loves the flavors of the Holy City.
I like to kick off the evening with a cocktail or a glass of bubbly alongside Callie’s Cheese Crisps. These addictive snacks are made here in Charleston by the baking team at Callie’s Charleston Biscuits. These are like the grown-up version of cheese straws, with extra-sharp cheddar and cracked black pepper. And if you grew up in the south, you know you can’t have a party without cheese straws!
I think that the key to a successful dinner party is a relaxed and happy hostess! Which is why I included a selection of Mod Squad Martha’s vinaigrettes and marinades. They are vibrant, fresh and add a southern touch of flavor without dirtying a single bowl. Since a fresh salad is always welcome at a rich dinner party, I use the Chive Jive Vinaigrette to add bright flavor to my greens.
And if I’m planning on making salmon, I grab a bottle of Mod Squad Martha’s Music Row Moroccan Salmon Marinade and Rub. The two products come packaged together and it takes the guesswork out of seasoning fish as well as shrimp or chicken. Plus it has real bourbon in the marinade, which gives it a Southern kick.
Charleston is known for serving grits and seafood together anytime of the day or night. So for a unique lowcountry-inspired side dish, Geechie Boy Mill Speckled Grits hit the spot. They’re a blend of white and yellow grits for a truly beautiful bowl. These make an elegant entrée served with Mod Squad Martha’s Salmon Recipe.
After dinner, coffee and cookies are a sweet ending to the evening. King Bean has been roasting ‘Coffee for the Culinary South’ since 1984 and lucky for us, they also roast for home use. So when I started designing this gift box, King Bean’s La Dolce Vita blend was the first thing to go in the box. And that was closely followed by one of our newest flavors, Chocolate Mint, for a taste of the holidays. And the second canister of cookies? It just had to be our fan favorite, Lemon Sugar.
These are some of my all-time southern entertaining favorites, sent to your door in a beautiful (and reuseable!) wooden gift box. It’s a stylish treat for your favorite hostess this holiday season. I hope you treasure these local flavors as much as I do!
